Paul Linn. Singer, songwriter, musician.
Paul Linn is a singer/songwriter and self taught keyboard musician who has been singing since being invited to become the lead member of his school choir. At the age of 16 Linn joined his first band, a school cover band, before later moving on to become the lead singer in a local group.
In 1983 Paul saw an early Howard Jones performance at a local pub in High Wycombe (UK). Seeing Jones’s performance motivated Paul to go solo and write his own songs. In addition to Howard Jones Paul was also inspired by a great variety of other musical acts, notably, Abba, Cliff Richard, ELO, Mike Batt, Beach Boys, 10cc, Duran Duran, Jean Michel Jarre, Human League, OMD and Ultravox.
In 1985, a year after being stirred into going solo Paul was introduced to Howard Jones’s former mentor, friend and lyricist, Bill Bryant. Paul and Bill instantly ‘hit it off’ and formed a strong friendship and musical partnership. Over five years Paul and Bill worked intensely writing some 100 songs, forming six albums, and performing some 330 gigs.
After many years of inactivity Paul and Bill are now beginning to prepare to tour again and have started to release their music through digital channels.
My motive for making music and performing was always just the music. I don’t think I ever did any of this to get laid, or to impress anybody. I just love music, and love to sing, and anything good that comes is a bonus. I have been honoured and proud to work with Bill.
